Texas – A Texas girl, 1-year-old Corra was fatally struck by a vehicIe driven by her mom’s partner. The tragic event occurred outside the home of her mother, 31-year-old Morrgan, and her 41-year-old boyfriend, Cameroon. Both have since been arrested in connection to the child’s death.
Authorities in Texas say the incident took place outside the family’e residence. Deputies were called to the scene at approximately 12:30 p.m. to find the toddler had been struck while standing outside the vehicle where her mother had been resting. The vehicle that hit the 1-year-old was driven by the mom’s boyfriend, who had been pulling into the driveway at the time of the fatal accident.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman had been in the vehicle with her daughter earlier that afternoon. The mother reportedly fell asleep in the car, leaving the toddler unsupervised. Investigators believe the child managed to exit the vehicle and wander onto the lot, where she was struck by the oncoming vehicle.
The girl was immediately rushed to the scene, but tragically, it was too late. Paramedics confirmed her death shortly thereafter. Sheriff Ed expressed his devastation over the incident, stating, “The child was out and about unsupervised. It should’ve never happened, and I can’t explain how it did happen. We just have people who are not taking care of their child like they should.”
Following the incident, investigators revealed that the couple failed to immediately call 911 after the crash. This delay in seeking help raised further concerns and added to the charges facing both defendants. Authorities in Texas noted that the mom’s boyfriend, although arrested on felony warrants for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft, showed no signs of impairment when he struck the child.
The mother was arrested and charged with child endangerment, while Link was taken into custody for his open felony warrants. Both are awaiting court proceedings, and the mother’s bond has been set at $40,000, while her partner remains in custody without bond.
Local residents and the community have expressed shock and sorrow over the incident, with many questioning how a child could be left unsupervised and subsequently killed in such a manner. As of now, both suspects remain behind bars, awaiting further legal action.
