Texas – The Texas Department of Public Safety announced the arrest of a fugitive from its 10 Most Wanted Fugitives List in Hidalgo County. Eliud Perez Reyes, 45, was taken into custody on Monday, May 26, following a traffic stop in Palmview.
DPS Highway Patrol Troopers stopped a white 2014 Ford Escape near US-83 Business and Bentsen Palm Drive after receiving investigative information from DPS Special Agents.
Reyes initially provided officers with a false name when asked for identification. He now faces an additional charge of failure to identify as a fugitive from justice.
Reyes has been wanted since December 2024 in Hidalgo County for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, sexual assault, and assault of a family or household member by impeding breath or circulation. In addition, a January 2025 warrant from Fayette County charges him with theft of property. The Palmview Police Department also assisted in the investigation leading to his arrest.
Authorities noted that no Crime Stoppers reward will be paid in connection with this capture. The arrest marks another successful effort by Texas law enforcement to bring dangerous offenders to justice.
