McLennan County First Responders to Shine Their Lights for Annual “Let Your Light Shine” Event

McLennan County’s first responders will come together on December 16, 2024, for the annual Let Your Light Shine event, a heartwarming tradition aimed at bringing holiday cheer to local hospitals. The event, which has become a staple in the community, sees first responders visiting both major hospitals in Waco, shining their emergency lights to uplift and encourage hospital staff and patients during the busy and often stressful holiday season.

The tradition, set to begin at 5:30 p.m. at Region 12, serves as a symbolic gesture of support and appreciation for the hard work of healthcare professionals and the patients they care for, especially during the holidays. Local first responder agencies, including police, fire, and EMS, will line up and drive their emergency vehicles to the hospitals, creating a festive and colorful display of flashing lights that is expected to bring a smile to many.

“This is an event we look forward to every year,” said one local first responder. “It’s a chance to show our community that we care and to bring a little joy to those who may be spending the holidays in the hospital. It’s an important reminder that we are all in this together, especially during the holiday season.”

The event is open to all local first responder agencies, and organizers encourage participation from both large and small departments across McLennan County. The efforts are also made possible through donations and support from local businesses and residents, further strengthening the community bond.

The Let Your Light Shine event is more than just a tradition; it is a testament to the spirit of giving and unity that defines McLennan County. As the season of generosity and kindness approaches, this event offers a chance for first responders and healthcare professionals alike to reflect on the power of support, kindness, and community.

Those involved in the event are excited to continue spreading joy and goodwill, and organizers are eager to see familiar faces as well as new ones joining the ranks of participants.

For more information on the event or to get involved, McLennan County residents can reach out to Region 12 or the local first responder agencies.
