Father left his 3-month-old daughter alone on a mattress on the floor while he watched YouTube videos in another room, the baby fell off the mattress and in between a concrete wall, leading to the child suffocating!

Police officials said the father, later identified as 44-year-old Kevin, was taken into custody and later charged with manslaughter of a child after he reportedly left his 3-month-old daughter alone on a mattress while he watched YouTube videos. The baby then rolled off a mattress, which was on the floor, and in between a concrete wall, leading to the child suffocating.

On September 5, 2023, Kevin was at his home with his 2-year-old and 3-month-old daughters. During an interview with investigators, the father reportedly admitted to placing the baby on a mattress on the floor. The father reportedly told police that he made a mistake and should not have done that. She should have instead placed the infant in the pack-and-play right next to the bed, the father reportedly told investigators.

The 44-year-old father called authorities and said that his 3-month-old daughter was face-down and not breathing at home. First responders arrived on scene and found the baby unresponsive. The child was found face down between the mattress and concrete wall. During an interview with investigators, the father reportedly told them that he was watching YouTube videos and found the baby face-down on the floor in between a mattress and concrete wall some 15 minutes after checking on her. The father then called 911 ‘after realizing that the 3-month-old looked really bad.’

Authorities said that the father placed the baby on the mattress at around 6:01 p.m. on September 5. But, his 911 call didn’t come in until 8 pm that night. Kevin’s browser history showed evidence of numerous browser searches from 5.57 pm all the way up to 7.56 pm, five minutes before the 911 call. The baby’s mom reportedly told investigators that their is always on her back and has not yet learned to roll over. She also stated the victim does not yet know how to crawl and turn over on her own. The mother, who was not identified, said she believed the baby’s death was an accident.
