Dad and the primary caregiver of 2-month-old baby, who was left fighting for his life with severe brain bIeed, broken ribs and broken hand, says the baby may have suffered the injuries because he was very fragile!

Police officials said that mom and dad of newborn baby left the child fighting for his life after they reportedly beat the infant and left it with severe injuries, including permanent brain damage, broken rlbs and broken hand. Both parents, later identified as 42-year-old Stephen and 37-year-old Tina, were arrested and later charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm. Prosecutors said the baby’s dad will also be charged with aggravated child abuse or t0rture resulting in great bodily harm.

Last week, the baby’s dad called 911 and told the dispatcher about an unresponsive 2-month-old baby. First responders located the baby, who was unconscious, and performed CPR as they rushed him to the hospital. Luckily, medical staff was able to resuscitate the child. Doctors called the authorities and said the baby suffered injuries that were consistent with regular physical abuse.

Per reports, the unfortunate child suffered nearly 20 rib fractures. The baby’s right hand was also broked and the newborn had a brain bleed. The brain injuries were likely to cause permanent damage, the hospital staff told prosecutors. During an interview with investigators, the baby’s dad reportedly said that he found the baby unconscious while his wife was at work. Both parents told investigators that they had no idea how their son had suffered his severe injuries.

Per reports, the baby’s dad also said that his wife Tina worked  two jobs and he was his son’s main babysitter. The 42-year-old father also told investigators that his son may have suffered the injuries ‘because he was very fragile’. The baby’s mom told investigators that her son was crying more than usual and that she believed that’s because the newborn baby drank less milk than normal which caused him to be congested.
