Waco Teacher’s Aide Arrested After Allegedly Showing Explicit Video to Student

Waco, TX — A teachers’ aide at the G.L. Wiley Opportunity Center in Waco was arrested on Monday after a 16-year-old student reported that he showed her an explicit video during school hours. Roosevelt Alexander, 46, of Waco, faces a Class A misdemeanor charge of displaying harmful material to a minor. He remains in custody with a $2,000 bond.

According to an arrest affidavit, the incident came to light on December 12 when a staff member at the school was approached by the distressed student. The girl, described as visibly shaking and crying uncontrollably, eventually disclosed to the staff member that Alexander had shown her an inappropriate video of himself. The student stated that the incident occurred while she was serving an in-school suspension.

The affidavit claims that Alexander repeatedly called the student over during the suspension period, insisting he wanted to show her a video. After viewing the video, the student reportedly reacted with shock and said, “Oh my gosh. I should punch you in the face.” Alexander allegedly responded, “I told you it wasn’t a TikTok.”

School security cameras and audio recordings are said to have captured the interaction between Alexander and the student, corroborating the girl’s account of the events.

The G.L. Wiley Opportunity Center is a disciplinary facility within the Waco Independent School District, which serves students who have been temporarily removed from their regular school settings for violations of the district’s student code of conduct.

Following the allegations, the Waco Independent School District (WISD) swiftly placed Alexander on leave and notified the Waco ISD Police Department. An investigation led to his arrest on December 16. WISD Executive Director of Communications Wendy Sledd issued a statement expressing the district’s commitment to student safety.

“We are deeply committed to the safety, well-being, and education of every student in our care. The individual was placed on leave, and appropriate authorities were contacted,” Sledd said. “The safety of our students is and will always remain our top priority. We expect our employees to foster an environment where our students feel safe, supported, and valued.”

Alexander, who was listed as a teacher’s aide on the Waco ISD website, has worked at the G.L. Wiley Opportunity Center for some time. The facility provides an alternative educational setting for students who have violated school conduct policies.

In the wake of the arrest, the Waco ISD has assured families that it is taking the matter seriously. The district emphasized that the incident is being thoroughly investigated and that the safety of students remains its top priority.

As of Tuesday, Alexander remains in jail, pending further legal proceedings. The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge as authorities continue to examine the incident.
