Waco, TX – Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a young man dead Thursday evening in the parking lot of a neighborhood recreation center in Spring.
The shooting occurred in the Birnham Wood subdivision, located at the intersection of Hickorygate and Birnam Wood Boulevard. Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene to find a man, estimated to be between 18 and 20 years old, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sgt. Jason Brown, a spokesperson for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that there were two or three other individuals with the victim at the time of the incident. Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots and then seeing the suspects flee the area on foot. Authorities suspect that the individuals who ran may reside in the surrounding neighborhood.
At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of family members. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information or security camera footage that may be related to the shooting to come forward.
