Waco Police Arrest Suspect in May 2024 Homicide

Waco, TX — Waco police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 13, 2024. Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:31 p.m. in the 900 block of S. 12th Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found 18-year-old Anthony Powe suffering from gunshot wounds. First responders initiated life-saving measures before Powe was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite their efforts, Powe was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Following an investigation, police identified 20-year-old Kewon Briggs as the suspect in the shooting. Briggs has been charged with the murder of Powe.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
