Florida – A Florida man was taken into custody and later charged with multiple charges, including second degree murder in connection with his partner’s death earlier this week. Authorities say the 20-year-old defendant, later identified as Dominiqe, killed his girIfriend Janisse, 17, at his home before leaving her body in the backyard.
The investigation process began on Monday after the defendant’s parent called 911 and told the dispatcher that there is an unresponsive girl in her backyard. The responding officers made contact with the unidentified woman, which led them to the victim’s body. First responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
Authorities in Florida then quickly took the 20-year-old man into custody. During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly said that he was assaulted by the victim and unknown male individual which reportedly made him kill the 17-year-old by strangIing her and fighting off the other person.
During a follow-up interview with investigators, the defendant eventually confessed that there were no other people in the residence and that he strangIed the girl to death following a heated argument. The defendant also told investigators that he left her body in the backyard after strangIing her to death.
The 20-year-old man is being held without bond, court records say. The victim’s family launched an online fundraiser to raise money for funeral expenses, which stated: “A beautiful soul was taken away due to tragic domestic violence my sister was taken away from me and her family being a victim to domestic violence on Feb 10 2025 around 9pm she was beaten by her boyfriend and left there in his backyard till someone found her later and called police to find her unalive on arrival.”
