Oklahoma – A 32-year-old woman in Oklahoma was taken into custody and later charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree murder, in connection with her newborn’s death. Prosecutors claim the 32-year-old woman, Kristen, drank several bottles of alcohol and fell asleep, leaving her baby and his older sibling, 4, unsupervised for nearly two hours. According to the woman, when she woke up, she found her child unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital. She is being held on a $750,000 bond, with her next court appearance scheduled for March 18.
The investigation began last month when the woman rushed her infant to the hospital. Hospital staff discovered the child had suffered severe head trauma and notified authorities. The child was later pronounced dead several hours after arriving at the hospital.
During an interview with investigators, the woman stated that she had picked up both children from daycare and left them alone for several minutes before finding her baby unresponsive in a baII pit. She also mentioned that, a day before the fatal incident, she had witnessed her older son throw the baby into the same baII pit, although the baby wasn’t injured at the time. The woman explained that her 4-year-old often jumps into the baII pit.
Authorities believe the baby’s injuries occurred after being thrown into the baII pit. The investigation revealed that the woman had purchased two bottles of alcohol on the day of the incident. She drank one bottle until 3 p.m., when she went to pick up her children, then drank the second bottle when she arrived home.
The woman admitted to falling asleep after finishing the second bottle, leaving both children unattended for nearly two hours. Authorities believe the baby’s injuries occurred during this period while his mother was asleep.
