Texas father who didn’t gave his adoptlve child breakfast and didn’t allow her to drink any water while forcing her against her will to jump on a trampoIine without stopping until she died, was convicted

Texas – A Texas man was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced to nearly two decades in prison following the tragic death of his adoptive child JayIin, 8. The incident has shed light on the grave consequences of child abuse and has left an indelible mark on the Texas community.

On August 29, 2020, emergency responders were called to the family’s residence. There, they found the child unresponsive on a trampoline in the backyard. According to court documents, the defendant, 48-year-old DanieI, informed authorities that he discovered the victim in this condition and attempted to revive her by administering CPR. Despite these efforts, the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The subsequent investigation revealed that the death of the adoptive daughter resulted from dehydration after being subjected to prolonged physical activity without food or water. The temperatures on the trampoline and the surrounding ground were estimated to be around 115°F and 150°F, respectively.

The victim’s biological mother, AIysha, had relinquished parental rights in 2017, and the defendant and his partner, the 34-year-old woman, had been her legal guardians since then. Per reports, she lost custody of her child in 2017 over a drug addiction.

The 34-year-old woman was convicted of capital murder in May 2023 and received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. In contrast, the defendant pleaded guilty to manslaughter in March 2025 and was sentenced to 18 years in prison. The disparity in sentencing has sparked discussions about the legal system’s approach to such cases.

The defendant and his partner had also gained custody of the victim’s younger sister. Testimonies from family members highlighted the emotional toll of the 8-year-old child’s death. The victim’s grandmother, Deby, expressed profound grief over the loss and criticized the lack of prior intervention by authorities.

The case has prompted local authorities and child welfare organizations to reexamine protocols for monitoring foster and adoptive placements. Community leaders have called for enhanced training for caregivers and stricter enforcement of child protection laws to prevent future tragedies.

The deaths of the 8-year-old child and the subsequent sentencing of her adoptive parents serve as a stark reminder of the potential for abuse within the child welfare system. It underscores the necessity for vigilant oversight and comprehensive support systems for both children and caregivers to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable youth.
