The couple faced charges of aggravated manslaughter following their baby’s death four years ago. Responding to a 3 a.m. call in Sept. 2021, officers arrived at the couple’s family residence to find the home in disarray, with overwhelming odors of garbage and rotting food.
Both parents claimed their children were happy and healthy, stating MarceIyn had a low fever for a few days, treated with TyIenol, and had refused her last bottle the night before her death.
According to Florida authorities, an autopsy determined that the child’s cause of death was starvation. The medical examiner noted that the infant’s weight was significantly below the expected range for her age, and there were no signs of acute illness or injury. These findings contradicted the parents’ statements and indicated that the child’s basic needs had not been met over an extended period.
