13-year-old Texas boy went home after school, put on a black mask, came back, and called his classmate’s name before he shot the 14-year-old girl several times, killing her

Texas – On March 21, 2025, 14-year-old child was tragically shot and killed by a 13-year-old cIassmate outside a Texas apartment complex. The incident occurred around 4 p.m., following a dispute earlier that day on the school bus.

According to Texas authorities, the altercation began on the school bus earlier that day. The 13-year-old suspect later approached the victim, Anaia at the apartment compIex playground, wearing a bIack mask, and shot her four times. The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The local police department responded promptly to the scene, securing the area and initiating an investigation. The 13-year-old suspect was taken into custody without incident. Due to his age, his identity has not been released, and authorities have not disclosed specific charges. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to determine the motive behind the shooting.

The victim’s family is devastated by her loss. Her godmother, Sonia, expressed forgiveness towards the accused shooter but criticized the lack of firearm security by his parents. She stated, “I’m not angry with you, I’m not upset with you, but I want you to know that I forgive you as of tonight and I put you into the hands of the Lord.”

The victim’s grandparent shared that she learned from her daughter that Anaia had never bullied the 13-year-old boy involved in the shooting, although the two had never gotten along. She also expressed that if she had known about the earlier altercation, she would have taken steps to address the issue before it escalated. “If I knew there was an altercation, me being who I am, I would’ve gone to the little boy’s parents with my granddaughter to see if we could resolve it,” she said. “Stuff like this happens all the time, but this does not make any sense at all.”

While the woman conveyed that she forgives the boy who shot her goddaughter, she expressed confusion over how he had access to a gun. She also stated that she holds the boy’s parents partially responsible for the tragic incident, as they should have ensured the firearm was not accessible to their child.

The local community is in mourning following this tragic event. Family and friends gathered to release purple balloons—the teenager’s favorite color—in honor of Anaia’s memory. Her father, Joseh, remarked, “Everybody loves my baby, everybody loves my baby. She was special.”

As the investigation continues, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. The local police department is committed to providing updates as more details become available. The victim’s family members have started an online fundraiser to help with funeral expenses as they plan to take the girl’s body back to Louisiana where she was raised.
