Florida – A Florida couple were arrested last week and charged with child abuse and negIect after an incident involving the woman’s child. According to the Florida authorities, the incident occurred last week when the woman’s spouse, 32-year-old George, became angry after the child pushed her sibling. Reports indicate that the man grabbed the child, 10, by the arm, dragged her to the kitchen, and placed her hand on a hot cooktop, causing severe injuries. The victim’s skin reportedly came off where she was burned, leaving a burn mark resembling the cooktop coiI on her hand.
After the incident, the child reportedly ran to her room in pain and contacted her mother, 36-year-old MiIIiene, who was not home at the time. Despite being informed of the situation, the parent allegedly did not take any action to address her daughter’s injuries or seek medical attention. The case came to light when the child’s teacher noticed the burn mark on Monday and contacted authorities.
Upon investigation, the woman’s spouse (SEE PHOTO) was arrested and charged with aggravated chiId abuse causing great bodily harm. The victim’s mom was charged with chiId negIect causing great bodiIy harm. Additionally, during her arrest, he allegedly resisted Iaw enforcement officers by swinging her fists and pushing them away, leading to additional charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence.
The judge has found probable cause for the primary child neglect charge, but it is unclear whether probable cause has been established for the additional charges.
