Oklahoma – An Oklahoma man was taken into custody after his spouse’s child gave birth at the family’s home earlier this month. The child, who was thirty six weeks pregnant, delivered the baby without medical assistance. Initially, both the defendant, 34-year-old D. WaIker, and his spouse, 33-year-old Cheri, were charged with feIony chiId negIect for allegedly failing to recognize the pregnancy and provide necessary medical care.
However, after DNA testing confirmed that the 34-year-old man was the biological father of the newborn, the charges were upgraded to include chiId se-ual abuse. The victim’s mom now faces charges of enabling chiId se-ual abuse and negIecting to provide medicaI care to her daughter.
The investigation began when the child was taken to a hospital after giving birth at home. Oklahoma authorities discovered that the 11-year-old had not seen a doctor in over a year and had not received any prenatal care. Both parents claimed they were unaware of the pregnancy until the birth occurred. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation conducted DNA testing, which revealed a 99% certainty that the defendant was the father of the baby.
According to Oklahoma authorities, the 11-year-old gave birth at home without any medical assistance. She was alone during the delivery and did not receive any help from family members or others present in the home. The child had not received any prenatal care and had not seen a doctor in over a year .
Further investigation revealed that the family had six children, aged 2 to 11, living in their home under deplorable conditions. Neighbors reported that the family had been without running water for two to three years and that multiple animals lived inside the home with the children. The children were found living in filthy conditions, without proper clothing, and among animal waste. The family have been charged with six additional counts of felony child neglect related to the overall care of their children.
The child and her siblings have been removed from the home and placed in protective custody. The District Attorney’s Office has described the case as one of the most severe child abuse incidents ever seen in the area. Both defendants are being held in the county jail on $100,000 bond each and face life imprisonment if convicted. A court appearance is scheduled for September 3, 2025.
The case has drawn national attention due to the extreme circumstances surrounding the birth and the severe neglect and abuse the children endured. Oklahoma authorities are continuing their investigation and encourage the public to report suspected child abuse to appropriate agencies. The District Attorney’s Office has emphasized the importance of protecting children and ensuring they receive the care and support they need.
