Mom, who knew that the vehicIe’s cooIing system was not functioning and that the conditions were unsafe before she intentionaIIy Ieft her 1-year-old inside for hours, leading to the chiId’s death, was charged

Texas – A Texas woman, later identified as 27-year-old V. EsquiveI, was taken into custody last week charged with first-degree murder following the tragic death of her chiId, 1. The 1-year-old died after being Ieft in a ho t vehicIe for over two hours while the parent was at work in Texas.

Temperatures that day reached at least ninety five degrees Fahrenheit, and the vehicIe’s air conditioning was not functioning. According to the Texas authorities, the defendant intentionaIIy Ieft her chiId in the vehicIe, knowing the conditions were unsafe.

The investigation began when police officers responded to the hospital after being alerted to a child’s death. Detectives learned that the parent had arrived at her workplace around 2:00 p.m. and left her child in the car without air conditioning.

Based on the circumstances, investigators determined there was probable cause to charge her with murder, as her actions directly led to the child’s death.

The woman was arrestedon the same day. She was later booked into the county jail, where her bond was set at $250,000. If convicted, she faces a sentence ranging from five years to life in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

Texas athorities had yet to say what led to the parent allegedly leaving the toddler alone unattended and whether she understood or ought to, that she would be contributing to the child’s mortal demise.

Not immediately clear was the whereabouts of the child’s father and what other child drop resources were available to the working mother or if she had also previously left the girl unattended in the vehicle.

As of now, Texas authorities have not released the child’s name or gender, and the woman has not publicly commented on the charges. The local police department continues to investigate the incident, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact their non-emergency number at 972-292-6010.
