Man told his friends that he ‘wouId sIeep fine’ after deceiving a chiId to enter a vehicIe before pIacing a firearm to his head and kiIIing him because he beIieved the victim knew too much about his prior criminaI activities: DA

Ohio – An Ohio man was sentenced to Iife in prison without the possibiIity of parole for the murder of a young boy, BryIan. The sentencing followed the defendant’s, 23-year-old Jahem, conviction last month by a jury on charges of aggravated murder, murder, and kidnapping. The jury also found him guilty of firearm specifications related to each charge.

According to the Ohio authorities, the investigation process began in March 2022 when the victim, a runaway from a juveniIe faciIity, was found dead in an aIIey in Ohio. He had a single gunshot wound to the head, and investigators quickly determined the shooting was an excution-style killing. Surveillance footage from the area captured the incident at approximately 12:23 a.m., showing two individuals—one of whom fell to the ground after a brief interaction, while the other fled toward a vehicle. A woman, Justise, was identified as a lookout during the shooting and later pleaded guilty to her involvement. She was also implicated in disposing of the firearm used in the crime.

During the investigation, Ohio authorities discovered that the victim had been staying at a juveniIe facility before his disappearance. His mother reported that he had run away from the facility and had not been seen since. Law enforcement officials pieced together the victim’s movements leading up to his death, including his interactions with the defendant and others involved in the case.

Investigators determined that the defendant had lured the victim from a juveniIe facility in Ohio, under false pretenses. They traveled to a different city, where the defendant executed the murder. Prosecutors revealed that the defendant believed the victim knew too much about his prior criminal activities, including violent acts, property crimes, and firearms offenses. This perceived threat led the defendant to silence the teen.

Following the murder, the defendant showed no remorse. He reportedly told associates he would sleep fine after the killing. Ohio authorities later apprehended both defendants in Tennessee, where they recovered the firearm used in the murder.

The case has drawn attention to the dangers faced by vulnerable youth and the lengths to which individuals will go to conceal their crimes. The community remains shaken by the senseless loss of a young life and the chilling details surrounding the murder.

In addition to the defendant’s conviction, the woman who served as a lookout during the shooting, has agreed to plead guilty to her part in the crime. She was involved in disposing of the firearm used in the murder, which was found in a trash can in Tennessee.

The case highlights the tragic consequences of youth involvement in criminal activities and the devastating impact on families and communities. The victim’s death serves as a somber reminder of the importance of addressing the needs of at-risk youth and providing support to prevent such senseless acts of violence.
