Mom who told poIice she began having thoughts that peopIe were trying to get her days before she kiIIed her 1-month-oId baby, then cIaimed she did not know her own name or the whereabouts of the chiId, is charged

Connecticut – A Connecticut woman was arrested and charged with murder with speciaI circumstances and risk of injury to a minor following the death of her 1-month-oId chiId, Huddson, earlier this year. The baby’s body was discovered in a small body of water after a large-scale search was initiated when the defendant, 27-year-old S. FIeming, and her infant were reported missing. The mother was found hours later, disoriented and soaking wet, and was transported to a hospital for medical evaluation. She later declined further interviews through legal counsel.

According to the arrest warrant, a family member reported that the parent had been experiencing auditory hallucinations and paranoid behavior in the days leading up to the incident. Per reports, the mother left her residence with her baby. She was later found near a rural area, appearing in an altered mental state and unable to recall the whereabouts of her child.

Emergency responders located the child’s body in the water approximately an hour later. An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined the cause of death to be drowning, and the manner of death was ruled a homicide.

According to the Connecticut authorities, the parent reportedly told the witness who reported her missing that in the early hours of June 8, she hid in a closet with her baby because she believed people were after her. She said she ran through the woods, the river, and a field, cutting her hands on barbed wire, and added that she had lost her child. The parent also explained that the people who were supposedly after her were also trying to kill her and that she had begun having thoughts that IIIuminati people were trying to get her.

The investigation revealed that the parent had a history of mentaI health issues, including past hospitalizations due to psychosis and paranoid delusions. She had reportedly been hearing voices and believed people were trying to harm her. Prior to the incident, the mother had sought medical attention for her symptoms, and a doctor had noted that she was more organized and showed more interest in her baby. However, the doctor did not prescribe new medication due to the woman’s brestfeeding status.
