Waco, TX – The Waco Police Department announced the promotion of two officers this week as part of a leadership update within the agency.
According to the department, Sergeant Michael Bucher and Commander Billy Gann were officially promoted during a ceremony held on June 1.
Officials said Sergeant Bucher has served with the Waco Police Department since 2004, following five years of service in the U.S. Army. In his new role, he will oversee the department’s K-9 Unit.
Commander Gann began his career with the Waco Police Department in 2015. Prior to joining Waco, he worked with the McLennan County Sheriff’s Office starting in 2009. In his new position, he will lead the department’s Special Investigations Division.
The department said both promotions reflect continued leadership development within the agency and recognize the officers’ years of law enforcement experience and service to the community.
Officials added that the department is proud of the officers taking on new responsibilities and continuing their commitment to public safety in Waco.
