Waco, TX – Construction is continuing at Waco’s future Alice Martinez Rodriguez Park as crews work on new sports courts, expanded pathways, utilities and other themed elements planned for the community park.
City leadership recently toured the site to view the progress, including work on the new Jesús De León Bridge over Waco Creek.
The bridge will connect both sides of the future park and is named in honor of longtime Waco council member Alice Rodriguez, whose name is also being carried by the new park.
Work is also well underway on the newly renamed Gilbert Sanchez Track & Field, which was formerly known as the Hart-Patterson Track & Field Complex.
The City of Waco said the ongoing construction is part of broader improvements to the city’s parks, creating new places for residents to play while expanding and improving neighborhood spaces.
