Atascocita, TX– Yamil Javier Rivera-Perez, 34, has been charged with the capital murder of two victims, Charity Freeman, 26, and Alejandro Suarez, 30, after a fatal shooting on the night of January 19, 2025, in Atascocita, Texas. Rivera-Perez, who is being held without bond, is accused of killing both individuals during an apparent act of violence linked to a recent abusive relationship with Freeman.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, deputies from the Precinct 4 Constable’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting a shooting at a residence in the 8000 block of Rebawood Drive around 10:46 PM. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found Suarez, who had suffered multiple gunshot wounds, lying unconscious. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.
Freeman, who had also been injured, was transported to a nearby hospital but was declared dead shortly after her arrival. Investigators later determined that Rivera-Perez had been involved in an abusive relationship with Freeman, which had recently ended. Authorities believe that Rivera-Perez forcibly entered Freeman’s home, where he shot and killed both Freeman and Suarez in a single violent encounter.
The investigation, led by Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators, quickly identified Rivera-Perez as the prime suspect. The motive for the shooting has not been fully disclosed, but the connection between Rivera-Perez and Freeman’s past abusive relationship is believed to be a key factor in the ongoing investigation.
Family members of Freeman have shared their grief, revealing that she leaves behind two young children. The Freeman family has expressed their heartbreak, and they are reportedly trying to connect with the family of Suarez, who was also remembered as a victim of the tragic events.
Rivera-Perez remains in custody, and authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the double homicide as new details emerge.
As of now, Rivera-Perez faces charges for the deaths of both Freeman and Suarez, with no bond set for his release.
