Indiana – An Indiana parent was taken into custody and charged with the murder of his child, 5, following a tragic incident. The child’s death has prompted a thorough investigation by Indiana authorities and raised serious concerns about prior abuse allegations.
Earlier this week, the parent, 41-year-old Z. ArnoId, called 911 to report that his child, Zera, was unresponsive after allegedly falling down the stairs. Upon arrival, officers found the victim deceased at the scene. While the parent initially claimed the fall was accidental, investigators later uncovered evidence suggesting foul play.
Indiana authorities discovered disturbing details about the events leading up to the child’s death. Court documents revealed that the parent had been involved in a domestic dispute with his former girIfriend the day before the incident. During this altercation, the defendant allegedly choked the victim while on a video call with his former girIfriend and sent her photos of the victim in distress. The woman, who had witnessed these events, did not report them to authorities due to fear of the defendant
The investigation also uncovered a history of abuse allegations against the man. The Indiana Department of Child Services had received multiple reports over the years, including incidents in 2020 and 2023 where the child was found with bruises after spending time with her parent. However, these allegations were either unsubstantiated or not thoroughly investigated at the time.
Following the investigation, the 41-year-old parent was arrested and charged with murder and neglect of a dependent. The Prosecutor’s Office is considering additional charges as the case develops. The defendant’s former girIfriend has also been charged with assisting a criminal and failure to report a crime.
The defendant’s former girIfriend, Andra, who chose not to call 911 about her partner choking his child because she thought he was just playing had videos on her phone of the girl being swung around with a noose.
In an interview, the 41-year-old parent admitted that he’d strangIed her the night before after becoming enraged during an argument with his girIfriend. He allegedly said that after choking the child, the 5-year-old asked him why he hurt her and said she loved him. After he stopped strangIing her the last time that night, the vicim told him she was tired and climbed into bed. Shortly after, he found the child unresponsive and foaming at the mouth.
The case has sparked outrage and concern within the Indiana community. County Prosecutor Mearrs stated that authorities are evaluating the conduct of everyone who had contact with the victim, indicating a comprehensive review of the circumstances surrounding her death.
