Pennsylvania – A 36-year-old woman from Pennsylvania has been sentenced to several years in state prison after pleading guilty to multiple charges, including aggravated assauIt and stranguIation charges involving a child.
The charges stem from a 2024 incident at the woman’s, 36-year-old EsmeraIda, residence in Pennsylvania. According to the DA’s Office, the woman struck the child multiple times in the face with the back of a brrush, resulting in a noticeable injury to the girl’s eye. In an attempt to conceal the injuries, the woman applied ice, makeup, salt, and butter to the affected area.
The victim reported to investigators that the pain from her injuries was so severe that she was unable to sleep on the bruised side of her face. She also recounted that the woman punched her in the back and placed her hands around her neck, choking her while repeatedly saying ‘to die.’ The child estimated that she was unable to breathe for approximately 10 seconds during the choking.
The abuse came to light when the victim disclosed the incident to a school staff member two days later. A school counselor subsequently reported the assault to the authorities. Authorities in Pennsylvania and the County Children & Youth Services responded by removing the 9-year-old victim, who was not identified due to her age, and an infant sibling from the woman’s home on the same day the report was made.
During the investigation, the woman admitted to striking the child and acknowledged attempting to hide the injuries. She expressed remorse for her actions and cooperated with law enforcement officials throughout the process.
Assistant District Attorney Jesica prosecuted the case, emphasizing the severity of the abuse and the need for accountability. Judge David, who presided over the sentencing, underscored the gravity of the wman’s actions and imposed the four to eight-year prison term.
This case highlights the critical importance of vigilance in detecting and reporting child abuse. The prompt action taken by the school counselor and the coordinated response by local authorities were instrumental in ensuring the safety and well-being of the affected children.
