Florida – A Florida parent was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, faiIure to report a death, and aItering a body following the death of her child, Ramil. The 6-year-old’s decomposing body was discovered in his bed during a weIfare check after he had been absent from schooI for over two weeks. According to Florida authorities, the 41-year-old parent, R. PauIynice, led deputies to her child’s bedroom, where they found his IifeIess body.
Investigators believe the child died two weeks ago, though an autopsy is pending to determine the exact cause of death. Due to the time elapsed before the body was discovered, medical examiners could not immediately ascertain the manner of death.
The parent reportedly told detectives that she believed God instructed her to perform an exorcsm to remove demons from her son’s body. She claimed that when her child stopped moving and passed away, she felt he had been released and was awaiting resurrection.
During the investigation, the defendant exhibited erratic behavior, alternating between laughing and crying. She had been posting reIigious messages on sociaI media during the period her child was missing. Law enforcement had previously responded to the household multiple times for domestic issues, although the child had not been involved.
The Florida community has been left in shock and grief over the tragic incident. Neighbors have created a makeshift memorial outside the family’s home, with balloons and flowers honoring the victim’s memory. Family members describe him as a joyful child who “lit up the room” and was loved by everyone. They are struggling to comprehend the loss and are leaning on their faith for support.
The parent appeared in court on May 31, 2025, where a judge denied her bail on the second-degree murder charge. She is currently being held at the county jail. An autopsy is expected to be performed to determine the child’s cause of death.
This case has raised concerns about the mental health of individuals involved in similar incidents and the need for increased awareness and intervention to prevent such tragedies.
