Waco, TX – The City of Waco announced plans to begin redevelopment at the former school located at 500 N. University Parks Drive, a site that has served generations of students under names including Jefferson-Moore High School, the Waco Ninth Grade Center, A. J. Moore Academy, Indian Spring Middle School, and Kendrick Elementary.
Officials said alumni, former staff, and families from all eras are invited to participate in a video history interview series to help document the campus’s legacy. Those interested in sharing stories or photos can email [email protected].
Construction fencing is scheduled to be placed around the site starting April 1 as crews begin abatement and removal work, which is expected to continue through July.
The work will prepare the site for the construction of Barron’s Branch Park later this year, along with future redevelopment phases.
City officials emphasized that while the building will be removed, the community’s stories will help guide the project, ensuring the new development honors the site’s history and connection to Waco.
