Waco, TX – City of Waco Planning Services staff visited Tennyson Middle School last week to teach sixth-grade students about how city government works and the role of planning in a community.
The visit was part of Tennyson’s Model City unit. City staff shared their career paths and explained the responsibilities of planning in city development and operations.
Students also participated in a model city simulator, where they gained hands-on experience making difficult budget decisions that come with running a city.
City officials thanked Tennyson Middle School for including them in the curriculum and giving students an opportunity to learn about local government in an interactive way.
