Community celebrates grand opening of MKT Trail in Waco with ribbon-cutting ceremony

Waco, TX – The City of Waco recently hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening of the MKT Trail.

The project, which transformed 1.2 miles of the historic Missouri-Kansas-Texas railway into a 12-foot-wide concrete pedestrian pathway, provides a new recreational space for residents and visitors alike.

Stretching from Sherman Street to Gholson Road in East Waco, the MKT Trail now offers a non-motorized route connecting local neighborhoods to the existing Brazos River trail system.

The lighted trail is designed for walking, biking, and running, making it an accessible option for outdoor enthusiasts.

With warmer weather approaching, the community is encouraged to take full advantage of the new trail for leisure activities.

The trail’s development has been seen as a significant step forward in providing additional green spaces and promoting a healthy lifestyle for Waco residents.
