Daughter says there had been tension between her grandmother and her mother, who was using drugs, and her grandmother wanted her out of her home, before the victim’s daughter grabbed a gun and shot the elderly woman to death while her three grandchildren were inside the home!

According to the police officials, the 54-year-old daughter, later identified as Sherene, was arrested and taken into custody after she reportedly killed her 76-year-old mother, Irene. The 54-year-old woman was charged with murder. During an interview with investigators, the victim’s granddaughter and suspect’s daughter, Smith, reportedly told investigators that her three kids were in the home at the time of the shooting.

During an interview with KHOU, the victim’s granddaughter also said that Sherene was not present in her life and that her grandmother was more of a mother figure. Smith also told the local news outlet that her mother had a history of drug abuse and her grandmother was trying to evict her from the family home when the killing occurred.

Smith said she spoke to her grandmother the night before she was killed. Everything seemed normal, Smith told KHOU. The following morning, she got a call from her children, who had spent the night with their grandmother, saying that something happened to Irene. The victim’s family started a GoFundMe to help the family with the costs associated with the loss.

“Growing up, we were very close. Entering my adulthood, we became estranged, almost non-existent,” Smith reportedly told KHOU about her mother.
