According to the statement, this unfortunate incident occurred less than three weeks after the father posted a picture of himself and his baby Eleanor on social media, who he described as his little baby girl. ‘This is one of the most heartbreaking and senseless crimes committed in this community in recent memory,’ said Sheriff Fred in a statement. ‘It’s just a tragic case. It’s a senseless case. Reminder to all of us standing here today that domestic violence is incredibly real,’ the sheriff told reporters at a press conference.
Police officials said the 26-year-old dad, later identified as Patrick, was taken into custody and charged with murder. He reportedly fired a crossbow at his wife while she was holding their 3-week-old daughter, injuring the mother and killing the baby. The father fired the weapon at his wife, Megan, during the early morning hours at their home. At the time of the incident, the couple were engaged in an argument. The broadhead crossbow bolt hit the baby, Elenor, in the upper torso, exiting near the armpit before then striking her mother in the chest.

The father then removed the bolt and attempted to stop the mother from calling 911, before eventually fleeing the home. The incident comes a week after the husband and father taking to social media where he posted that his style was to protect his family and friends at all costs. Emergency responders, arrived at the home and attempted lifesaving measures on the baby but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The mother was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The father was charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree, Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Contempt in the 1st Degree. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation is currently ongoing and that the father remains in custody without bail while he awaits arraignment.
