Father, who threw a large blanket over his 6-month-old baby daughter and suffocated her to death because the child was crying and he wanted to play video games, pleaded no contest!

According to the court documents, the 20-year-old dad, Alex, murdered his baby because the child cried while he was playing video games. Prosecutors said the defendant pleaded no contest to second-degree murder last week. Prosecutors said the 6-month-old baby was found dead laying on her back in the bedroom. On May 18, 2022, officers responded to the victim’s home. The responding officers discovered that the baby’s mother was at work while the baby’s father was watching 6-month-old Scarlett from the evening to the early morning the next day. First responders pronounced the 6-month-old baby dead on scene. The medical examiner later revealed that the child was dead for a while.

Investigators discovered that there was bl00d in the baby crib that appeared unusual. During an interview with investigators, the baby’s dad reportedly said that he dropped off the baby’s mother at work, returned home with the child, and said Scarlett went to bed. The father also said that he checked on the baby two hours later and saw that his daughter was alright. In the morning, the father reportedly left the residence without checking on the baby and without taking Scarlett with him to pick up the child’s mother from work.

The father also told investigators that when they got back to the apartment, they reportedly found the baby to be in the crib deceased.  The baby’s mom told investigators that she yelled at the baby’s father when he didn’t bring the baby with him to pick her up at work. According to the court documents, an autopsy reportedly found fixed lividity on the right side of the baby’s body and on her back, L&C reported. The medical examiner reportedly revealed that the 6-month-old baby was moved after her death.

In another interview with investigators, the baby’s dad reportedly said that his baby was crying and that he threw a large gray blanket over top of Scarlett in her crib and over Scarlett’s entire body. The father then moved the blanket out of the crib before first responders arrived at the scene. Investigators later revealed that the baby’s dad was playing video games when she died of asphyxiation in her crib.
