Texas – Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Advanced Nuclear Energy Office (TANEO) announced the opening of applications aimed at expanding advanced nuclear energy development and strengthening manufacturing capacity across the state.
Officials said the initiative is part of a broader effort to position Texas as a national leader in nuclear energy while supporting job creation and long-term energy reliability.
In June 2025, Abbott signed House Bill 14 into law, establishing TANEO and creating the $350 million Texas Advanced Nuclear Development Fund. The fund supports the development and commercialization of advanced nuclear projects, including reactor construction, supply chain expansion, and domestic fuel cycle capabilities.
Eligible projects may apply through programs designed to support development and construction, including reimbursement opportunities for qualifying initiatives.
State leaders said the investment is intended to streamline regulatory processes and encourage growth in the nuclear energy sector for future generations.
Applicants are required to submit a notice of intent by April 23, 2026, with full applications due by May 14, 2026.
