Texas – Governor Greg Abbott, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and the Texas National Guard continue to collaborate with federal agencies to secure the border, prevent drug and human trafficking, and combat transnational criminal activity.
Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency initiative has resulted in over 531,300 apprehensions of individuals crossing the border illegally. Additionally, more than 50,800 criminal arrests have been made, including over 43,500 felony charges.
Texas law enforcement has seized over 624 million lethal doses of fentanyl as part of this mission. Officials have emphasized that this amount is enough to endanger populations across the United States, Mexico, and Canada combined.
State officials report that illegal crossings into Texas have decreased by over 90% due to border security measures. As a result, fewer migrants are being transported to designated sanctuary cities. Since the start of the state’s transportation program, Texas has transported:
– Over 12,500 migrants to Washington, D.C., since April 2022
– Over 45,900 migrants to New York City since August 2022
– Over 36,900 migrants to Chicago since August 2022
– Over 3,400 migrants to Philadelphia since November 2022
– Over 19,200 migrants to Denver since May 2023
– Over 1,500 migrants to Los Angeles since June 2023
State officials reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening border security efforts and reducing criminal activity along the Texas-Mexico border.
