Texas – Governor Greg Abbott congratulated the City of Port Aransas for being named a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas in the program’s inaugural year. This achievement follows the completion of a rigorous multi-step certification process and reflects the city’s commitment to developing tourism as an economic growth strategy.
The Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community designation highlights Port Aransas Tourism Bureau & Chamber of Commerce’s efforts to enhance local job creation and attract more visitors to both the community and Texas at large.
“Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas,” Governor Abbott stated. “Travelers to and within Texas generate more than $193.8 billion in annual economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs across the state. I congratulate Port Aransas for this recognition and encourage all Texas communities to apply for this designation to further boost tourism and create jobs.”
