Grandparents took a belt and beat their 5-year-old granddaughter to death with it ‘because she soiled herself at their home’!

If you’re a grandparent living near your grandchild, you’ll probably be asked to look after your grandchild from time to time. Like many other grandparents, you might also be asked to provide more regular child care for your grandchild. You might love the idea of caring for your grandchild. Or you might prefer not to do regular child care, but still want to spend time with your grandchild and support your grandchild’s parents in other ways.

But, unfortunately, the grandparents of a 5 year old girl, Jada, appeared in court following prosecutors claims of beating their granddaughter to death with a belt after soiling herself at their home last week. Prosecutors also said that the little girl had been subjected to beatings over the last two months leading up to her death last Friday.

The ongoing beatings at the hands of the girl’s grandparents, 62-year-old Klent and his 57-year-old wife Lisa, led to the girl incurring severe contusions most commonly seen in car crash victims, NBC News reported. The grandparents were arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Jada’s death. The horrific crime came to light when police and paramedics were dispatched to the couple’s home after 11 p.m. Friday for a report of an ‘unresponsive’child.

Klent was the person who called 911, with the man admitting to a dispatcher, ‘I was beating my little granddaughter and now she is out of it,’ prosecutors said. EMTs performed CPR on the girl before she was airlifted to the Children’s Hospital, where she died early Saturday. The grandfather was quoted as telling the police that he began beating Jada after she soiled her underwear, according to a police report. While he was riding in the back of a police cruiser, Klent allegedly said, unprompted: ‘I was a little too rough with my grandbaby.’
