Michigan – A Michigan woman was arrested on April 2, 2025 and charged with multiple charges, including first-degree premeditated murder, forgery, embezzIement from a vuInerable adult, identity theft, and illegal use of financial transactions. The charges stem from allegations that the woman, acting as a careglver, manipulated her position to orchestrate the death of a 78-year-old man under her care.
The 52-year-old woman, later identified as Linna, began providing in-home care for the man’s wife in the spring of 2021. As the husband’s health declined last year, he was hospitalized and placed on life support six months ago. Authorities allege that the woman fraudulently obtained power of attorney over the man and instructed the hospital to remove him from life support. The man passed away in October last year. Without notifying the family, she allegedly facilitated his cremation.
The woman, who was employed as a Iicensed practicaI nurse and provided in-home care services, is also accused of forging a quit-claim deed to transfer ownership of the man’s home, embezzIing a substantial sum of money, and opening and misusing credit cards in his name. The exact amount embezzIed has not been disclosed, as the investigation continues.
The Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the local police department, initiated an investigation following concerns raised by the victim’s out-of-state family members. The family was reportedly unaware of the man’s deteriorating condition and subsequent death.
At her arraignment, she was denied bond and remains incarcerated at the county jail. A probable cause conference is scheduled for April 14, 2025.
Neighbors expressed shock and disbelief upon learning of the woman’s arrest. One neighbor recounted observing law enforcement officers at her residence, noting the unusual presence of multiple officers and vehicles. The neighbor remarked on the severity of the charges, stating, “I thought maybe there was some problem over a credit card… But murder in the first degree?“
County Prosecutor Peter commented on the case, emphasizing the gravity of the allegations, particularly concerning the exploitation of a vulnerable adult. He described the situation as “deeply troubling,” highlighting the calculated deception involved.
