Husband decided to kill his pregnant wife after she told him she was pregnant with their second child because he already had money problems, new girlfriend and didn’t want to give his estranged wife medicaI insurance; sentenced

According to the court documents, the defendant, later identified as 30-year-old Michael, was sentenced to 25 years to life for killing his 27-year-old wife Kelly, who was pregnant with his baby at the time she was killed. Prosecutors claim the husband was convicted on second-degree murder after he went to the victim’s home with the intention of killing his estranged wife.

Prosecutors also said the woman was pregnant with their baby at the time she was killed. The couple married in 2013 and had one child together. They separated in 2018, but had a physical relationship for some time after separating. According to the court documents, the 30-year-old husband reportedly decided to kill the 27-year-old woman after she told him that she was pregnant.

Prosecutors also say that at the time, Michael had a new girlfriend, money problems and didn’t want the baby. Evidence showed that Michael didn’t want to pay for the new baby’s medical insurance, L&C reported. Kelly was killed on January 15, 2020. Her parents found her in the apartment. The medical examiner told investigators that the 27-year-old woman was strangled to death and was pregnant.

During the investigation process, authorities acquired surveillance footage which showed that the estranged husbamd had been in the victim’s neighborhood on the morning of her death. Per reports, he reportedly parked several block away from the victim’s house and then turned his cellphone off to make his location undetectable. But, investigators were able to find his DNA from the area around Kelly’s neck.
