Killeen, Texas — The Killeen Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that left one person dead on Thursday, January 23. Officers were dispatched to the 3700 block of Dustin Court following a 911 call reporting a shooting incident.
Upon arrival, officers found an 18-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported by ambulance to AdventHealth Central Texas in critical condition, but despite efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at 6:31 p.m., according to police officials.
Authorities have not released the victim’s name, citing the need to notify next of kin before publicly identifying him.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting. He was taken into custody and transported to the Killeen City Jail. However, police have not disclosed the suspect’s identity at this time.
The police department has emphasized that the shooting appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
