Florida – A Florida man, 24-year-old M. HaII, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the kiIIing of his famiIy member, 53-year-old Shery. He was subsequently sentenced to thirty five years in prison, receiving credit for the four years he has already spent in custody since his arrest.
The incident occurred in March 2021, when Florida authorities responded to a call and discovered the elderly woman deceased in her home. She had suffered multiple blunt force injuries to her head, face, and body. Investigators found two bIood-covered kitchen knives, a mop with a bIoodied handle, a bucket of water, dish soap, and blood-soaked wet wipes scattered around the living room.
Neighbors reported seeing the defendant pacing outside the home with bIood on his hands earlier that morning. He was later located at a convenience store, where he provided a false name to officers and declined medical assistance for his visible injuries. He was taken to a mentaI health facility, where he confessed to the murder.
According to his defense attorneys, the altercation began over a dispute about paperwork, during which the victim allegedly demanded that her son sign title documents and leave the home. The 24-year-old defendant will serve his sentence in a Florida state prison, with the possibility of parole after serving a portion of his term.
