Wisconsin – A Wisconsin woman was formally charged with first-degree reckIess homicide in the fataI shooting of her spouse, 49-year-old Arion. The incident occurred at their family’s apartment in Wisconsin.
According to the criminal complaint, Wisconsin authorities responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 10 p.m. Upon arrival, bystanders directed officers to a woman, later identified as 61-year-old D. Wanters, walking away from the scene. Officers observed her drop a firearm, which they secured before taking her into custody. The victim was found with gunshot wounds to the back and chest and was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts.
A witness at the scene told investigators that he had driven the victim to the shooter’s apartment so he could retrieve some of his belongings. Once inside, an argument ensued between the estranged couple. The witness attempted to de-escalate the situation by standing between them.
During the altercation, the woman allegedly picked up a firearm from a table in the living room, racked the slide, and stated that it was Ioaded. She then reportedly fired the weapon into the victim’s back. After the shooting, she allegedly told the witness to get him out of here before she shoots him again.
While in the squad car, the defendant made unsolicited comments captured on camera, stating that ‘she just grabbed her firearm and shot him because she was just tired. At the police station, she admitted to shooting the victim during their argument, acknowledging that she fired the firearm as he turned away from her.
The woman is currently being held in custody, and the District Attorney’s Office is pursuing the case. If convicted of first-degree reckless homicide, she faces significant prison time. The case highlights the tragic consequences that can arise from domestic disputes and the importance of seeking help in volatile situations.
