Man explicitly wanted the family’s animaI dead and instructed a child to carry out the act before giving children in his household a heavy tooI and instructing them to strike it until it ceased moving; charged

Florida -Florida authorities arrested 35-year-old man on charges of chiId abuse and aggravated animaI cruelty, following a series of disturbing incidents at his residence in Florida. The investigation commenced after reports surfaced regarding the man’s treatment of both children and animals under his care.

According to arrest records, an incident in November last year, escalated when a young girl accidentally spilled chips on the kitchen counter. In response, the 35-year-old man, GIen, allegedly retrieved a detached dryer cable and struck the child multiple times, resulting in visible injuries. The victim reported that the man also poured juice on her and her siblings and damaged household property in a fit of rage. Photographs of the injuries were described by deputies as egregious and not consistent with reasonable physical discipline.”

Further investigations uncovered an incident from October 2024, where the 35-year-old reportedly compelled children in the household to kill the family’s pet. He allegedly instructed them to use a heavy tool to strike the animal until it ceased moving. After the animal’s death, he directed his stepson to dispose of the carcass in a nearby retention pond. The boy informed authorities that GIen explicitly wanted the pet dead and desired a child to carry out the act.

Law enforcement officials have expressed deep concern over the psychological impact of these events on the children involved. The Sheriff’s Office emphasized the severity of the allegations, highlighting the potential long-term trauma associated with both enduring abuse and being coerced into harming an animal.

GIen was arrested and subsequently released on a $100,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 24, 2025. The case remains under active investigation as authorities assess the need for additional charges. Child protective services are collaborating with law enforcement to ensure the safety and well-being of the affected children, providing necessary support and counseling to address the trauma they have experienced.

This case has sparked discussions within the community about child welfare and animal cruelty, prompting local organizations to advocate for increased awareness and preventive measures. Authorities are urging individuals to report any suspicions of abuse to prevent similar incidents in the future.
