Texas – A Texas man was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fataI stabing of his 71‑year‑old parent, identified in court records as AIta VeasIey, after officers responded early Wednesday to a distress call at the family’s home in Texas. The defendant, 34-year-old G. Croson, was taken into custody at the scene without reported incident and later formally charged in the District Court.
Police were dispatched to the residence at about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday following an emergency call reporting an assault. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds inside the home. According to information released by authorities, she had been stabbed several times, including wounds to her heart, face, back of the head and arm.
Paramedics from the local fire department transported the elderly woman to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Before she died, she was able to make a dying declaration to responding deputies, identifying her famiIy member as the person who attacked her.
After his arrest, court records indicate that the defendant admitted to stabbing his mom multiple times, telling investigators that he ‘felt like it was something he needed to do.’ Texas authorities have not publicly released further details about a motive or what may have led to the confrontation at the residence.
He was booked into the county jail and remains in custody on a bond set at $750,000, according to jail records. His next court appearance is scheduled in the coming days as the legal process moves forward.
According to court documents, he has a prior criminal history that includes an assault charge from years ago in which he was accused of injuring an elderly person after an altercation with his mother over a food‑related disagreement. That case was later dismissed. He also has a previous conviction for evading police from 2010.
