Indiana authorities responded to a 911 call around the early morning hours of June 28, reporting a shooting at the victim residence. First responders found the victim fatally wounded and the defendant unconscious from a seIf-infIicted gunshot to his head. Both were immediately transported to area hospitals— the victim succumbed to her injuries, while the defendant was admitted with critical but non‑fatal wound.
A probable cause affidavit reviewed by L&C reveals that once the defendant regained consciousness, officers at his hospital bedside questioned him. According to their account, he responded directly that he kiIIed the woman before referring to her as his spouse. Indiana authorities say he had driven with a friend to pick up some personal belongings shortly after being told to leave the victim’s house. Their relationship had been deteriorating, and the defendant had reportedly been asked to move out prior to the incident .
