Illinois – An Illinois man was taken into custody earlier this week after he called 911 to report that he had kiIIed his spouse inside their apartment in Illinois, authorities said. Police took the defendant, 37‑year‑old Hektor, into custody without incident shortly after 4:30 a.m. and charged him with two counts of first‑degree murder, according to the local police department and the County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Police responded to dispatch after receiving the defendant’s call, in which he told dispatchers he had just killed his spouse. Officers found him standing outside the apartment, where he was immediately taken into custody and transported to the county jail, where he awaits a detention hearing.
When officers entered the apartment, they located a female victim suffering from significant, life‑threatening injuries. First responders attempted to render aid, but the woman was later pronounced dead at the scene. Police described the incident as domestic‑related and said there was no indication of a broader threat to the community.
The County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 43‑year‑old Nomi, officials said in a later statement. During the fataI asasauIt, the victim was stabbed repeatedly, suffering three dozen wounds to her head and an additional two dozen to her back, neck, and chest. The defendant also struck her body and head multiple times with a hamer, leaving her covered in lacerations and with a broken skuII. She was ultimately found lying face down on the floor with a bIanket covering her body, and paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
The defendant reportedly told law enforcement that he hugged his wife in an attempt to calm the escalating situation when she accused him of infideIity, only to discover that she was holding a Iarge bIade behind her back, the prosecutor added.
In the hours after his arrest, investigators with the local police department and the County Major Crimes Task Force began a detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Detectives secured the scene, collected evidence from inside the apartment and conducted interviews with officers, neighbors and others who might have information about what occurred prior to the fatal incident.
