Texas – A Texas man and woman were taken into custody and charged after the woman’s chiId, 3, was hospitalized with severe injuries, leading to him being pIaced on Iife support. The 30-year-old mom, CheIsea, faces charges of lnjury to a chiId, while her partner, 30-year-old Cristopher, is charged with injury to a chiId causing great bodiIy injury, staIking, and tampering with physicaI evidence with intent to impair, according to the Texas authorities.
Last week, the mother reportedly left the child, Damson, in her partner’s care around 7 a.m. Later that day, the woman told Texas authorities that she received a message from the man about the victim eating Iunch, but later, he called her in a panic, saying he was taking the child to the hospital. Upon arriving at the hospital, the mother was told by the man that he had heard a th ud and found the child unresponsive. However, he did not provide further explanation for the incident.
Texas authorities interviewed both defendants. The mother stated she left the child with her new partner (SEE PHOTO) and did not witness the events leading to his injuries. The defendant, upon being questioned, requested an attorney and refused to speak with Texas authoriteis. He was subsequently arrested and charged. The mother also insisted that the child did not have any injuries when she left him with her partner.
Medical personnel at the hospital documented that child had suffered severe brain trauma, including bIeeding in the brain, bruising in various stages of healing across his body, wounds to his chest and abdomen. The nature of these injuries prompted hospital staff to notify law enforcement, as they were inconsistent with the defendant’s account.
The child remains on life support, with no brain activity, and his prognosis is grim. The mother has requested a modification of her bond to allow supervised visitation to say goodbye to her son before he is removed from life support. A court hearing has been scheduled for October 27 to address this request.
