Providence Foundation receives $3.5 million donation for Ascension Providence’s heart program

WACO, TX — Providence Foundation is proud to announce a $3.5 million charitable donation from Margaret and Weldon Ratliff. The generous gift is dedicated to supporting capital, programs or research for the advancement of Ascension Providence’s Comprehensive Structural Heart Program.

“Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women, and we are honored to receive this generous gift which will help continue to fund innovative programs and expand heart care at Ascension Providence,” said Philip Patterson, president of Ascension Providence. “We are extremely grateful for this support which helps ensure the highest quality cardiovascular care at Ascension Providence.

Margaret and Weldon Ratliff are philanthropists and longtime supporters of Ascension Providence and the Waco community. It is their wish to expand, support and enhance heart care at Ascension Providence.

“The Ascension Providence Heart Hospital is close to our hearts because both of my parents were cared for there for many heart conditions,“ said Margaret Ratliff. “It is imperative for Ascension Providence to keep up with the advancements in every area, in order to offer what other hospitals in larger cities do and keep our family and friends close to home for care. We are very aware just how blessed we are to have Ascension Providence in Waco and we are proud to be involved in supporting their endeavors to make it even better.”

Ascension Providence has a long tradition of cardiac care in Waco, including the first open-heart surgery, the first cardiac stent procedure, five state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization labs, and new programs, like TAVR and Watchman. Generations of patients have entrusted their heart health to Ascension Providence’s award-winning team of physicians and clinicians who provide passionate, personalized care.
