Texas – A Texas man was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder following the fataI stabing of 30-year-old A. Gopta earlier this week. The investigation process began after responding officers and EMS personnel found the victim with severe neck injuries; despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.
According to the Texas authorities, the defendant, 31-year-old D. KandeI, had been sitting next to the victim when he suddenly stabbed him in the neck without provocation. After the attack, the defendant calmly exited the bus with other passengers and left the scene on foot. Witnesses provided descriptions that led to the defendant’s apprehension nearby at 7:12 p.m.
During questioning, the 31-year-old man admitted to the stabbing, stating he believed the victim resembled his uncle. He is currently held at the county jail on a first-degree murder charge, with his first court hearing scheduled for June 12.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety and mental health support. Court records indicate the defendant has an extensive arrest history, including serious offenses, with prosecutors previously declining to prosecute him multiple times.
The case remains under active investigation. Texas authorities urge anyone with information to contact the local police department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Crime Stoppers Program.
