Waco, TX – A 60-year-old Robinson man was arrested on Sunday after authorities say he set his brother’s pants on fire during an argument over a lighter.
Major Lamar Wilson was booked into the McLennan County Jail on Sunday, facing a second-degree felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident took place at a residence on the 600 block of Lux Drive in Robinson, Texas, at around 4 p.m.
According to an arrest affidavit, the victim, Wilson’s brother, told police that the altercation began when the two men got into a dispute. The victim was sitting on the back porch when Wilson allegedly pushed him out of a chair, causing him to fall to the ground.
The affidavit states that Wilson then poured lighter fluid on his brother’s leg and ignited it with a match, causing the victim’s pants to catch fire. The fire was reportedly extinguished after Wilson doused the flames with water. However, he allegedly threw a box of dominoes at his brother while he was still on the ground, according to the affidavit.
Police officers noted that the victim’s pants were severely burned and partially melted.
Wilson was arrested later that day and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently being held in the McLennan County Jail.
The incident comes amid a busy news day, with other headlines including President Joe Biden’s announcement of state funeral plans for former President Jimmy Carter, a new $2.5 billion U.S. military aid package for Ukraine, former President Donald Trump’s endorsement of Mike Johnson for House Speaker, and South Korea’s decision to inspect Boeing 737-800 aircraft following a deadly jetliner crash.
