Texas – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller has announced that schools across the state will celebrate National School Breakfast Week from March 3-7, with the theme “Clue In To School Breakfast.” This event highlights the importance of a nutritious school breakfast and the role it plays in academic success.
Through the National School Breakfast Program, Texas schools serve approximately 1.6 million breakfasts daily. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) partners with school nutrition teams to provide these meals, and this week, they will celebrate with promotional materials designed in collaboration with the School Nutrition Association.
Commissioner Miller emphasized the significance of a healthy breakfast in improving attendance, test scores, and overall academic performance. “Eating a healthy breakfast at school can have a big impact on children’s attendance, test scores, and overall academic success,” he said. “For National School Breakfast Week, I’m encouraging students to show their appreciation for nutrition teams by starting the day with school breakfast.”
This year, TDA has made the celebration resources available online for schools, which include a Do-It-Yourself Celebration Guide, an activity kit, a marketing toolkit, and coloring sheets. These materials, designed around the mystery-inspired theme, engage students while promoting nutritious and delicious school breakfast foods.
