Texas Agriculture Commissioner Miller announces schools to celebrate National School Breakfast Week March 3-7 with theme ‘Clue In To School Breakfast’

Texas – Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller released a statement on May 6 endorsing President Donald Trump’s FY2026 budget proposal, describing it as a “critical move” toward restoring fiscal responsibility and curbing federal overspending.

Miller praised the proposed 22.6% cut to non-defense discretionary spending as a “historic” measure that would eliminate government waste and narrow the federal focus to essential duties. He emphasized the urgency of addressing the national debt, which he noted has surpassed $36 trillion.

The commissioner also highlighted the budget’s 65% funding increase for the Department of Homeland Security, calling it a major win for Texas farmers and ranchers near the southern border.

According to Miller, these agricultural producers have long faced challenges stemming from border security issues, and the increased support is both timely and necessary.

In addition, Miller welcomed the elimination of funding for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and other initiatives he described as being rooted in a “woke agenda.” Instead, the budget champions the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative, which focuses on improving national nutrition, physical activity, and public health.

The proposal also introduces MAHA food boxes, filled with U.S.-grown products intended to support both domestic agriculture and American families.

Calling the proposal more than just a budget, Miller concluded his statement by framing it as a “bold declaration” that fiscal discipline is returning to Washington.
