Texas mother never sought medical treatment for her speciaI needs daughter’s severe wounds before leaving her on a concrete floor for hours before calling for help, only to have her pronounced dead

Texas – A Texas woman is behind bars and later charged with serious bodily injury to a disabled person under her care in connection with her family member’s death. Authorities in Texas said the 41-year-old woman, CrystaI, was taken into custody and later charged in connection with her daughter’s death, who is a special needs person. The victim, DeIiIah, was found unresponsive on the floor of her bedroom.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The responding officers noted that the victim was lying on the concrete and there was a ring or outline around her body. Authorities in Texas said this means that the victim was lying on the floor for a long time. Medical personnel told investigators that the victim had been lying on the ground for at least 6 hours or a whole day by the time she was found.

The victim, 19, looked severely malnourished and her body was covered in bruises and sores. The responding officers said that the victim had exposed bones on her body. First responders initially believed the victim was 12 years old. The mother told investigators that her daughter was non-verbal and had severe autism, but no other health conditions.

During an interview with investigators, the woman reportedly said that she treated the victim’s wounds with Nesporin, but did not seek medical care. According to the mother, her daughter was reportedly very aggressive with her and other family members. The victim’s last hospital visit was four years ago, authorities said. Authorities later concluded that a reasonable person would have sought medical treatment for their daughter’s severe wounds.
